Today we had a chance to share our published gripping stories with Grade 1 today. We had a great time reading and sharing with Mrs. Reynolds class. Take a look below:
We have had another great week in room 3! In reading, we have talked about how characters can grow and change in the books we are reading. We talked about the importance of paying close attention to strong character feelings because that can be a sign that the character is about to change. In writing, we have been finishing up our gripping narratives. The students have worked to include dialogue, action, and build suspense by leaving clues and using gripping words. We will be publishing these stories on the google drive next week. In math, we have started our unit on addition and subtraction within 100. We have been learning about how to add 2-digit numbers using a Tens and Ones frame and also by using an open number line. As always, we continue to work on learning about and applying efficient strategies for solving math facts in a snap. Remember to keep practicing at home.
December was a busy month. I just wanted to take a minute to highlight a few things. The students in room 3 worked very hard to finish their informational writing. They even published their writing on a program called Little Bird Tales. They enjoyed sharing their work with other second graders at our writing celebration.
We also had the opportunity to spend some time on Passion Projects. Our classroom was very passionate about the playground and what changes we could make to it. The students thought about areas of passion such as modeling, using technology, and drawing to express their ideas. The class worked very hard on their projects and shared them with others. It was a great exercise in creativity and collaboration! Lastly, we enjoyed having families in to help us celebrate the holidays. Thank you for taking the time to visit. We hope you had as much fun as we did! |
