As we continue to work on Place Value, we started to talk about identifying coins, knowing their value, and counting collections of coins. Today, we used a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast the nickel and the dime. The class was able to teach each other about many ways that they coins are the same and different. They worked in pairs to examine the coins and then taught the class about their findings. It was really cool to see some of the things they noticed. Check out the pictures below. Also- if you happen to have any spare change lying around that you are willing to part with (particularly nickels) we would be willing to take it off your hand:) When learning about money, it is very helpful for the kids to see real coins.
